We bring together hundreds of high school students from across the Bay Area to work together and make their ideas a reality.

We'll provide the mentors, games, and online hacking spaces for you—the hackers—to do your magic. Just bring your ideas and your passion!

Los Altos Hacks V will take place online using the Hopin platform from April 24-25, 2021. We'll be using Discord to provide an interaction space for our hackers as well!

All high schoolers are welcome to our fifth year — and it'll be our best yet! With swag for the first 350 registered, we'll be having a blast while learning many valuable coding skills along the way. No coding experience is required; there's a place for everyone at our hackathon!

As always, Los Altos Hacks will be 100% free, including prizes, swag, mentorship, and much more!

For more information and to sign up, visit https://losaltoshacks.com. See you from April 24-25!

Judging Criteria

  • Originality
Is the hack more than just another generic social/mobile/local app? Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?
  • Technical Difficulty
Is the hack technically interesting or difficult? Is it just some lipstick on an API, or were there real technical challenges to surmount?
  • Polish
Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well designed?
  • Usefulness
Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?
